What is Feng Shui?

Feng shui studies how TIME and SPACE affect a person's health, wealth, and relations with others. The TIME your home was born into and the TIME you were born are important factors in a classical feng shui analysis. The Chinese believe the first breath you take at birth marks your innate destiny (your Heaven Luck). In the same way, when the foundation is set and the roof is affixed, your home is born. It, too, has a core personality. In addition to studying how time affects your well-being, feng shui studies how interior and exterior SPACE can bring fortune or cause misfortune. Things like the size and shape of your home and lot, landforms and waterways; roads; the proximity, size and shape of other buildings; fences, hedges, and trees; and the arrangement of your furniture are taken into consideration.

I use a sophisticated method of classical feng shui called Flying Star ( Xuankong Feixing ). The method uses the magnetic orientation (SPACE) of your house and the year it was built (TIME) to generate a numeric qi (energy) map. The numbers or "stars" are interpreted, with the objective of remedying negative predictions and enhancing positive ones. For example, a 2-1 combination is notorious for causing divorce and a 4-1 combination brings romance. In essence, a Flying Star reading can be likened to an astrological reading of the home's destiny.

If you'd like a mail-in consultation, I'll need several things from you. You are my eyes. The more detail you offer, the better I can "see" how best to help you. I will need:

1) A to-scale floorplan. Please label each room and indicate all doors and windows.

2) A very accurate compass reading. For example, the house faces south at 152 degrees. If you have my book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui , please consult Chapter 11 about taking a proper compass reading.

3) The birth dates of all occupants.

4) Photos of the inside and outside, including the area surrounding your house/apartment/business.
